The Flower of Life Foundation is a newly established 501(c)(3) private foundation dedicated to empowering underserved communities throughout Dallas County. While our foundation is new, our Advisory Board is composed of accomplished professionals and community leaders who have each driven measurable results in their respective fields. Volunteer Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer and Fundraising Specialist to help us expand our capacity to serve. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community transformation and wants to use their writing, research, and networking skills to make a tangible difference.

You’ll work directly with our leadership team to identify, write, and submit grant proposals, as well as help design donor engagement strategies to fund our youth entrepreneurship, health, and community wellness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with our mission
  • Draft compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents
  • Develop a grant calendar and track application deadlines
  • Assist in building fundraising campaigns and donor outreach materials
  • Support creation of sponsorship decks, fundraising events, and donor communications

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Previous experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising (preferred but not required)
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and research skills
  • Passion for community development, education, and social impact
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid setting

Commitment

  • Flexible hours — approximately 5–10 hours per week
  • Minimum commitment: 3 months, with the possibility to continue based on mutual interest
