The
Director, Visual Merchandising - New Store Openings
will Lead the visual merchandising strategy, planning, and execution for all new store openings and remodels for Crate and Barrel, in close collaboration with Retail Operations and Store Design teams.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, Illinois office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as a Director, Visual Merchandising - New Store Openings…
Develop and present detailed floorplans and fixture layouts, ensuring optimal customer flow, an elevated shopping experience, strong visual appeal, and balanced product density
Lead coordination with Store Design, Operations, Merchandising, Allocation and Marketing teams to ensure a unified, on-brand launch execution
Manage calendar, milestones, deadlines and facilitate executive approvals of layouts, designs, details and budgets
Travel to new store locations to direct visual installations, lead large teams and ensure all visual elements are executed to standard prior to opening
Develop scalable visual merchandising playbooks, guidelines, and tools specific to store openings
Build and lead a high-performing visual team responsible for supporting new store openings across multiple regions
Monitor post-opening performance to evaluate the effectiveness of layouts and presentations and apply learnings to future projects
Create improvements with each new store by providing critical hindsight and feedback to the Store Operations and Corporate Visual Team
Foster and model a culture of collaboration, accountability, entrepreneurship and excellence in store experience and visual merchandising
What you’ll bring to the table…
Deep expertise in visual merchandising and strong understanding of spatial planning
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex, fast-paced store launches
Ability to successfully guide and move forward multiple projects at one time
Demonstrated ability and desire to successfully lead and inspire a high performing team.
Proactive problem solving skills
Ability to appropriately adjust communication (verbal and written) and presentation style and content to the audience

10+ years previous experience working in retail visual merchandising
Bachelor’s degree
Experienced with CAD, InDesign, Photoshop
Experienced with Google and MS Office Suites
Proven experience opening new stores and building visual strategies from concept to execution
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Ability to travel as needed and work non-traditional hours during launch periods
Minimum Starting Rate:
$160,000.00 Annually
Up to:
$200,000.00 Annually Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
