Position Overview D Magazine Partners is seeking a seasoned and innovative Senior Director to lead our marketing and experiential initiatives, while driving new revenue opportunities for the organization. Positioned within the revenue department, this role requires a strategic leader with a hands‑on, player / coach approach. Someone who can develop vision, execute plans, and inspire teams to deliver exceptional results.

The Senior Director will collaborate closely with the advertising / revenue team (including sales and clients), editorial, and audience development to design and execute cross‑functional programs that elevate the brand, engage audiences, and generate growth.

Key Responsibilities

Event Oversight : Lead and manage a three‑person events team producing 50+ events annually. Oversee talent development, vendor negotiations, operational troubleshooting, and ensure best‑in‑class execution. Drive the conception and launch of new events to achieve revenue, subscriber, and brand engagement goals.

Sponsorship Engagement : Partner with sales to develop creative pitches and activation opportunities that maximize sponsor ROI across B2B and B2C events. Serve as a senior liaison with sponsors, advising on cost‑effective activations and, when needed, acting as primary point of contact. Support onsite execution with the events team. Potential to contribute directly to sponsorship sales, particularly in liquor and hospitality categories.

Thought Leadership Programming : Create and execute high‑profile thought leadership events—primarily for D CEO—including programs like the annual Women’s Leadership Symposium. Shape themes and branding, collaborate with editorial on content, and ensure compelling experiences that elevate the brand.

Sales Marketing Oversight : Direct and mentor the marketing director responsible for B2B sales support, including development of sales materials, advertising communications, sponsorship deliverables, and performance recaps.

Brand Extensions : Identify and advance revenue opportunities tied to new products and platforms (e.g., podcasts, video, digital series). Partner with Consumer Marketing, Audience Development, and Social / Digital teams to educate advertisers on emerging media opportunities and train sales staff on positioning new offerings.

Cross‑Department Collaboration : Build strong partnerships across editorial, audience development, and sales to align marketing efforts and ensure cohesive execution of brand extensions and revenue‑driving initiatives.

Budget Management : Oversee budget planning and allocation, ensuring resources are optimized for maximum impact across events, marketing, and partnerships.

Strategic Leadership : Drive innovation and growth by identifying new revenue streams, developing forward‑thinking strategies, and delivering solutions that strengthen audience engagement and advertiser value.

Qualifications

Proven leadership experience in marketing, events, revenue, B2B marketing.

Strong background in event and content production, talent development, and vendor negotiations.

Great project management skills.

Experience in developing and executing thought leadership programming.

Familiarity with advertising offerings and client relationships.

Exceptional strategic planning, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to balance big‑picture thinking with hands‑on execution.

Previous experience in media or publishing is a plus.

Client and customer service oriented.
