Asuragen, a Bio-Techne brand, is a global molecular diagnostics product and solutions company. We use our unique combination of proprietary chemistry and bioinformatics to develop products that address unmet needs for both clinical research and diagnostic laboratories. Our product portfolio is comprised of reagent kits and software for genetics and oncology applications.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the advancement of commercial software solutions within our rapidly growing Bioinformatics and Software Engineering group in the Bio-Techne Diagnostics Division. You will design and deliver high-quality, web-based analysis software for genetics and oncology data processing, reporting, and visualization needs, working collaboratively with other software developers, engineers, and scientists. You will help design, develop, and maintain regulated software solutions, proprietary algorithms for high-efficiency automated data processing, and high-quality software for internal and external customers.

What You Will Do

• Contribute to the development of diagnostic assay kits that advance molecular diagnostics research and empower patients and healthcare providers with better answers.
• Contribute to functional software design, development, testing, and documentation of commercial software applications that meet Asuragen’s research and clinical market needs.
• Support and maintain new products as they move to market by responding to technical investigations, adding features, upgrading tools and frameworks, and proactively identifying bugs and risks.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, and Manufacturing to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements for regulated software.
• Participate in an Agile software development process including design, planning, estimation, execution, and verification testing activities.
• Identify and implement technical and functional improvements to the software engineering toolset and processes, including frameworks, tools, and best practices.
• Communicate technical topics and project outcomes effectively both internally and externally.

Who You Are & What You Bring

• Natural problem solver with an innovative mindset and strong technical acumen.
• Master’s degree with 2+ years of industry experience in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Expert working knowledge of C# or JavaScript; Python experience preferred.
• Extensive experience writing unit and integration tests and understanding of test-driven design.
• Experience developing secure software aligned with modern cybersecurity best practices.
• Experience developing and testing software in Unix/Linux.
• Experience with cloud-native software development highly desired.
• Extensive experience with commercial software development tools including IDEs (Visual Studio, VS Code, PyCharm), Git, and Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience developing and deploying regulated software applications preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and strong communication skills.
