This role combines technical expertise, organizational precision, and a hands‑on approach to support a fast‑paced, global newsroom. The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable balancing multiple production needs across teams.

You will

  • Manage and maintain all field and studio equipment for WSJ Video, including Sony FX‑series cameras, Sony and Canon lenses, Aputure/Sidus Link lighting systems, and various audio tools.
  • Use Cheqroom, our online inventory management system, to track and manage daily shoot requests.
  • Ensure all gear is cleaned, maintained, and kept to operational standards.
  • Handle both hands‑on maintenance and strategic planning for equipment upgrades, lifecycle management, and workflow optimization.
  • Assist the video engineering team with running livestream events, media management, cloud‑based archiving, and post‑production workflows.
  • Manage and maintain voiceover and video podcasting booths.
  • Help develop and refine end‑to‑end workflows for field and studio productions.
  • Provide hands‑on support for breaking news, live events, and special projects.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends as part of a rotation or as news demands.

You have

  • At least five years of professional experience in video production or broadcast operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, and After Effects.
  • Proven experience managing and maintaining camera, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Experience with live production and control room environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based production workflows and digital asset management.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a dynamic newsroom environment.
  • Commitment to staying current with evolving production technologies and workflows.

The position is located in New York City and will report to the Director of Multi‑Format Production.
