Summary  We are currently seeking a  Music Therapist  to join our Inpatient Psych team. This part-time role will work 56 hours within a two-week pay period, on days or evenings.
Purpose of this position:  In conjunction with the Inpatient Psychiatry Team, implements the utilization of music within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs of patients.
Responsibilities   Music Therapist works to assure program quality and integrity is maintained
Assesses emotional and spiritual well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses
Designs music interventions for individuals and groups based on patient/family needs using improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance and learning through music
Assesses patient/family needs, develops, and implements treatment plans; evaluates and documents clinical changes
Uses therapeutic interventions to support patients in distress, to assist in preventing escalation of undesired behaviors
Uses clinical skills and interventions to assist the department in reducing the use of restraints and seclusion
Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow up
Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner
Participates in ongoing education programs
Follows the policy of confidentiality regarding patients and families
Demonstrates a compassionate attitude toward patients and families that is consistent with the HHS philosophy and mission
Attends and actively participates in clinical team meetings
Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients, families, and team members
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications   Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a college music therapy curriculum including an internship (or is in the process of completing an internship)
Bachelor's degree in music therapy from an American Music Therapy Association-approved program
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities   Ability to establish caring and professional relationships with people of all ages and abilities
Ability to perform work with empathy, patience, creativity, imagination, openness to new ideas, flexibility, and self-awareness
Ability to effectively work with individuals experiencing acute mental health crises and chronic mental illness in an inpatient setting
Ability to use a patient-centered approach to engage in conflict resolution and de-escalation; skilled in reducing the use of restraints and seclusion
Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
Ability to work independently, with flexibility, personal integrity, and ability to collaborate with clients, families, personnel, and support agencies
Licenses/Certifications   Music Therapy Board Certified (MT-BC)
