Position Information Classification Title: Editor I (FLSA Exempt) • FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in the humanities, social sciences, or related discipline; two years of experience in publishing (employment, internship, assistantship, and/or apprenticeship). Position Summary The Acquisitions Editor reports to the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Georgia Press and is responsible for managing and growing the Press’s regional trade and social sciences lists, focusing on Georgia and the American South. This role may involve books in series/imprints such as Wormsloe Foundation Nature Books, NewSouth Books, Music of the American South, Geographies of Justice and Social Transformation, and Sociology of Race and Ethnicity. The editor acts independently with sound judgment and professionalism.
