Overview Temp Parttime Faculty: Music (MUSC) postings at UNM Los Alamos are for teaching online and/or face-to-face courses at the 1000 or 2000 level. This is a continuous recruitment beginning in the Summer 2025 semester. Positions are contingent upon student enrollment levels, current course offerings, and may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Applicants hired from this requisition will be considered for the next requisition.
Anticipated openings include Music Appreciation and Fundamentals of Music for Non-Majors. UNM-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque, emphasizing teaching excellence and offering transfer, vocational, and technical courses to the region.
UNM-Los Alamos seeks qualified temporary part-time faculty to teach lower-division classes in Music (MUSC) as specified. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of the class, including meeting during assigned times, delivering content, developing assignments, grading, reporting grades, and assessing student learning as outlined by the Program Coordinator. Classes may be offered online or in person depending on circumstances.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester based on enrollment, course offerings, and graduation requirements. Selected candidates report to the Program Coordinator overseeing this curriculum area.
Wages
Adjunct Faculty at the UNM Los Alamos campus are currently compensated at the rate of $1135.26 per credit hour.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications to teach or develop courses in Music (MUSC) are determined by the Higher Learning Commission’s accreditation requirements and must be met by one of the following:
Master’s Degree in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying, OR
A master’s degree or higher in a discipline other than that for which you are applying, and successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
Online teaching experience
Terminal degree in the discipline or subfield (Ph.D., MFA, etc.)
New Mexico residence
