Landscape Designer - Minneapolis, MN
You'll collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to bring landscapes to life—from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed landscape design
Prepare site plans, planting plans, hardscape layouts, and construction documents
Conduct site analysis and research to inform design decisions
Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure design integration
Assist with client presentations and community engagement efforts
Support permitting and regulatory compliance processes
In This Role You Will
Provide the Landscape Architecture Department with design, graphic and production support
Work within a project team to execute a designated phase of a selected project in a manner that is responsive to the client’s needs and deadlines consistent with HGA procedures, standards, and quality expectations
Compile and analyze data on site conditions such as geographic location, soil, vegetation, and natural features; drainage and location of structures
Develop design concepts according to parameters defined by the project team
Prepare site plans, construction drawings, specifications and cost estimates for land development, showing grading contours, vegetation and location of structures and facilities
Maintain ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment
Make an on-going effort to demonstrate competency in landscape architecture with the goal of achieving Landscape Architecture licensure
You Will Need To Have
Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Environmental Design, or related field required; Master preferred
2+ years of professional experience in landscape design or architecture
Working toward licensure (LARE)
Experience with Revit; strong knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe and Microsoft Office Suites required
Strong graphic and visual communication skills
Knowledge of plants, sustainable design practices, and site grading
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Desire to learn and collaborate in a high‑energy environment
Salary Information
The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short‑ and long‑term disability programs. Salary Range: $29.04 – $32/hr depending on experience and qualifications.
