The Peninsula Clarion in Kenai, Alaska, is seeking a full-time experienced reporter to cover local news and events in an area renowned for its spectacular scenery and rich cultural history.
In this position, the successful candidate will lead community coverage. This role is ideal for a reporter who thrives on accountability journalism, enjoys fast‑paced environments, and has a passion for informing civic dialogue.
This position includes:
Reporting on community news, events and municipal government
Breaking news and general assignment reporting
Publishing stories to the web and once‑weekly print edition
Building relationships with key sources
Taking photographs and contributing to the Peninsula Clarions growing digital and social platforms
Skills and attributes:
At least two years of professional journalism experience
A deep understanding of journalistic ethics and commitment to factual accuracy
Proficiency in AP Style, basic photography, and CMS/web publishing tools
Ability to file timely, clean copy and work both independently and collaboratively
Interest in engaging readers across digital platforms, including newsletters and social media
