Job Description This position is responsible for developing and implementing communications services for the AI² Center (Artificial Intelligence Academic Initiative Center). It is a highly independent role that oversees internal and external communications, publication and data dissemination, social media strategy and account management, video and podcast production, program scheduling, and website content and design. The position also manages a marketing and communications specialist and student interns.

Key Responsibilities

Implement comprehensive internal and external communication plans, producing and editing content for print, electronic, video, and audio productions.

Develop and produce text and graphical content for internal and external audiences, including brochures, one‑pagers, briefing documents, social media communications, electronic newsletters, digital advertisements, and large‑format printing.

Analyze AI news and communicate top‑interest stories to the AI² Center leadership team.

Serve as the primary account manager for web and social platforms.

Manage email responses to the university’s main AI queries email address.

Provide media support by responding to inquiries and pitching stories to appropriate news outlets to advance UF’s AI mission.

Serve as the web developer for AI websites using the CMS Terminal 4, responsible for design, writing, and editing of content.

Organize and implement conferences and events: overall communication strategy, advertising material design, abstract review, program development, website management, and run‑of‑show development; manage interviews, videos, and photography of presenters.

Analyze and evaluate marketing campaigns and web communications, and communicate analytics and strategic recommendations to the AI² Center leadership team.

Salary $70,000 – $86,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree (or equivalent bachelor’s degree with four years of experience) in an appropriate specialization.

Experience in developing and implementing public relations campaigns, editorial planning, writing, editing, social media, video production, and project management coordination.

Experience communicating scientific discoveries.

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments independently.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team toward organizational objectives.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat Pro, content management systems, HTML, and professional design software.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Proficiency with HTML and CSS languages for managing and building websites.

Proficiency in social media and data analytics.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with faculty, students, administrators, and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications

A master’s or bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.

Four years of professional experience in the same area.
