WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of ten stations.

WUNC's mission is to provide high‑quality news, cultural and entertainment content to create a more informed and engaged community. The Digital Giving and Marketing Associate position supports that mission by disseminating WUNC content to the community via social media. This position will strategically expand WUNC's social media following by defining and implementing comprehensive strategies to increase conversions, brand visibility, listener engagement and traffic across all social platforms. This complex, multi‑faced role will enable WUNC to foster deeper relationships with listeners, promote WUNC to new audiences, and ultimately drive audience growth and engagement to higher levels. This in turn will also transition into increased financial support for WUNC.

The Digital Giving and Marketing Associate will manage and grow the WUNC brand through relevant social channels to target audiences as well as local communities. The role will strategise with internal stakeholders to engage key target audiences through valuable content and grow them into brand advocates. It is crucial for this position to possess an in‑depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective audiences and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. Essentially, the position will serve as WUNC's internal subject matter expert for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and Pinterest.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post‑baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public affairs, or a related field; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience will be accepted.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Demonstrated knowledge of digital media formats, web development, graphic design, and digital communication platforms.

Demonstrated knowledge of online communities, engagement and interaction.

Great customer service attitude.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to build rapport with donors and listeners.

High attention to detail with the ability to think strategically, manage time and effectively prioritise to achieve station goals.

Ability to create original content including graphics for social media platforms.

Ability to work independently. Excellent time‑management skills and self‑motivation.

A collaborative personality who enjoys working as part of a team and values communicating with management and peers for feedback/insight.

Availability for events outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends; a flexible schedule will be required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Deep familiarity and enthusiasm for public radio and experience working at a public radio station preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience with social media and/or digital fundraising preferred.
