Writes and edits news releases, articles, feature stories, speeches and other promotional materials for release to the mass media; coordinates the printing of such materials. Collects and assembles information on agency activities through interviews or research; writes and prepares publications such as newsletters, pamphlets and brochures. Edits manuscripts and publications (may serve as managing or associate editor); proofreads material to ensure grammatical accuracy and consistency in style and presentation. Reviews and evaluates manuscripts submitted for publication and makes recommendations on their acceptance or rejection; maintains liaison with authors and contributors in order to solicit and secure manuscripts. Designs books and writes advertising copy for books being published by a university press; solicits and evaluates competitive bids from suppliers. Maintains contacts with newspapers, radio and television stations and other mass media services to disseminate informational materials of public interest created plans, coordinates and promotes agency programs and activities. Coordinates the shooting and distribution of pictures for informational materials, athletic events and television film clips. Supervises and trains lower-level personnel and freelancers engaged in gathering and assembling data for news releases.**Additional Job Description**Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and one year experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
