Overview The System Project Engineer is the technical lead on a project team responsible for developing and executing design/build and bid system concepts, designs, and construction‑ready system build documents that meet customer requirements.
Responsibilities
Work directly with clients and internal project teams to develop budgets, timelines, construction documents and manage project expectations.
Lead teams of multiple technical staff on projects.
Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements.
Provide technical expertise and coordinate information to support design, bidding, installation, programming, etc.
Oversee development of the Bill of Materials (BOM) and support documentation.
Coordinate with CAD draftsmen to produce detailed construction drawings.
Generate functional system descriptions, block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plate development, cable assemblies, rigging/mounting drawings, custom program GUI, etc.
Research and recommend technology options for clients and project teams.
Reconcile construction drawing packages and support documentation during the project lifecycle.
Support field integration staff, overseeing on‑site field engineering, programming, tuning, testing, and commissioning.
Participate in developing corporate engineering and CAD standards.
Act as a technical representative for system design concepts during pre‑sale and post‑sale phases.
Maintain industry expertise through trade shows, seminars, training and certifications.
Provide counsel and direction to junior personnel and conduct peer reviews.
Qualifications
College graduate with a concentration in electrical engineering, acoustics, audio engineering, construction, electronics, or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit, Navisworks, or 3D desired).
Certification in primary DSP platforms (QSC, Biamp, BSS, Symetrix, ClearOne, etc.).
Certification in control‑system programming (Crestron, AMX, Extron, etc.).
Experience with EASE and related speaker‑design software.
Other relevant certifications as required for specific technology focus.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in audiovisual systems technical design.
AVIXA CTS Certified (CTS‑D or CTS‑I preferred).
Clear demonstration of understanding construction project phases from program to final commissioning.
Experience delivering large‑scale performance projects (stadiums, arenas, performing‑arts venues).
Understanding of construction trades (electrical, HVAC, acoustics, general construction).
Detail‑oriented, independent, self‑starter.
Ability to work with little direct oversight.
Strong time‑management skills, meeting deadlines and budgets.
Excellent communication skills, able to analyze and explain complex technical concepts.
High level of problem‑solving and troubleshooting.
Ability to travel occasionally for projects throughout the U.S.
