Overview
As a Senior Product Designer on the M&T Digital Experience team, you will lead the visual design of concepts, prototypes, and iterative milestones for digital products serving Institutional Services (IS). You will collaborate with product owners, developers, and cross‑functional partners to bring experience visions to life. You will work closely with other Product Designers and Service Designers to ensure consistency and alignment across our product ecosystem.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop the process and approach for tackling a design problem and anticipate problems using known methods.
- Define the approach for solving design challenges and anticipate potential issues using established UX methods.
- Envision and design end‑state experiences that meet business objectives and user needs, informed by research and insights.
- Apply user‑centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle to deliver high‑quality experiences.
- Partner with developers to ensure adherence to UX standards and best practices to manage design handoffs.
- Explore multiple design concepts through whiteboarding, wireframes, and usability testing to gather feedback and refine solutions.
- Collaborate with product owners to define functionality and user requirements aligned with desired outcomes.
- Mentor other Product Designers and promote design thinking within product teams.
- Lead design efforts across one or more product spaces while connecting work to the broader product vision.
- Actively contribute design perspectives in product team meetings.
- Facilitate cross‑functional workshops using human‑centered and design thinking methodologies.
- Conduct user research in partnership with the Experience Research team.
- Innovate by exploring new patterns and practices to enhance the design toolkit.
- Communicate design rationale effectively and collaborate with cross‑functional peers.
- Influence stakeholders to adopt better ways of working.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience (or 7 years combined education and experience).
- Strong stakeholder and project management skills.
- Experience analyzing and tracking data using tools such as Quantum Metric or Adobe Analytics.
- Expert‑level Figma skills for screen design and prototyping.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and researchers.
- Strong presentation and workshop facilitation skills.
- Experience working in Agile environments with just‑in‑time design, research, and development practices.
- Proven ability to support the full product development process—from vision to launch to iteration.
- Ability to mentor and educate others on the value and principles of good experience design.

Compensation
Salary range: $91,061.75 – $151,769.58 per year.
