In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.# **What you will be doing****Position Summary**The Audio Visual (AV) Technician I provides advanced support, maintenance, and coordination of AV systems across the organization. This role requires a strong technical foundation, the ability to lead AV projects, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high-quality AV experiences for meetings, classrooms, and enterprise events. The Technician II also plays a key role in AV system planning, documentation, and lifecycle management.**Key Responsibilities*** Provide Tier I daily operational support for complex AV environments including conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, hybrid meeting spaces, and streaming platforms.* Lead setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV hardware/software such as displays, projectors, microphones, DSPs, speakers, control systems, and video conferencing tools.* Act as lead AV support for high-visibility meetings and events, ensuring seamless execution and professional-quality outcomes.* Perform preventive maintenance, firmware updates, and technical documentation of AV systems and configurations.* Collaborate with IT, Facilities, and third-party vendors on AV projects including system upgrades, new installations, and technology refreshes.* Provide guidance and informal training to AV Technician I staff; assist in onboarding and skill development.* Support end users and departments with advanced training on AV systems, remote collaboration platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WebEx, etc.), and best practices.* Manage AV inventory, track equipment lifecycle, and make recommendations for system improvements and standardization.* Contribute to AV system design and architecture in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external integrators.* Ensure AV solutions meet organizational standards for security, safety, compliance, and accessibility.* Participate in the development of AV policies, procedures, and support documentation to improve operational efficiency.**Qualifications*** Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Media Production, Engineering, or related field – or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.* Minimum 2**+ years** of experience in AV systems support, integration, or operations.* Proficient with AV control systems (e.g., **Crestron**, **Extron**, **AMX**), video conferencing technologies, and AV-over-IP platforms.* Familiarity with audio processing (DSPs), digital signage, and enterprise-level AV infrastructure.* Experience supporting live events and executive communications in professional environments.* Industry certifications **CTS** required, **CTS-I** recommended in addition.* Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a focus on root cause analysis.* Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure.* Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for system maintenance or event support.**Key Competencies*** Advanced technical expertise in AV technologies and collaboration tools* Clear and professional communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal)* Initiative and ownership of AV issues, projects, and improvements* Ability to work independently and provide mentorship to junior team members* Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams (IT, Facilities, Events, etc.)**Non-Discrimination Policy** Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
