Pomona is a member of The Claremont Colleges## **Job Purpose**The Media Services Technician operates, maintains, distributes, and supports audio-visual systems across Pomona College’s technology-enhanced classrooms, meeting spaces, and event venues. This role ensures seamless multimedia experiences and exceptional customer service while troubleshooting AV and computing issues.## **Essential Functions*** Provide technical support and troubleshooting for classroom and meeting space AV systems* Support AV needs for major campus events (e.g., Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, Convocation, Board of Trustees meetings)* Install software and firmware updates on classroom computers, control systems, and laptops* Track and maintain inventory of media equipment and supplies* Provide technical support for web conferencing platforms* Assist with digital signage systems (software, displays, computers)* Log equipment updates, relocations, and inventory changes* Document procedures, workflows, and technical protocols* Stay current with emerging AV technologies through training and conferences* Complete special projects and assignments as needed* Deliver high-quality customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests## **Qualifications**## **Education and Experience*** Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred* Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience supporting AV systems and media technology* Proficiency with both Windows and macOS platforms, including presentation and productivity software## **Required Knowledge and Skills*** Technical Expertise* AV systems: signal flow, control systems (Crestron, Extron), DSPs, switchers* Audio engineering: microphone types, gain structure, EQ, feedback control, live mixing* Projector setup: focusing, color correction, keystone adjustments* Web conferencing: Zoom, Microsoft Teams—setup, integration, troubleshooting* Digital signage: content scheduling, display calibration, software configuration* Preventive maintenance: cleaning, firmware updates, lifecycle tracking## **IT and Systems Integration*** Operating systems: Windows, macOS, iOS, Android* Networking basics: IP addressing, VLANs, AV-over-IP protocols* Security awareness: data privacy, secure AV setups, IT policy compliance## **Communication and Collaboration*** User training and support for diverse audiences* Technical documentation and SOP creation* Team coordination with IT, Facilities, and Events* Empathetic, responsive customer service## **Strategic and Operational Awareness*** Inventory management and vendor coordination* Event logistics and AV planning* Professional development through trade shows and certifications (e.g., CTS)* Mission alignment with Pomona’s academic and community goals## **Cognitive and Physical Capabilities*** Problem-solving under pressure* Multitasking in dynamic environments* Physical dexterity: climbing ladders, lifting to 50 lbs., safely maneuvering equipment## **Work Schedule*** Regular hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM* Flexibility required for evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime* Occasional travel may be necessary****HOURLY RATE:**** The hourly rate for this role is between $24.50 and $27.27 per hour with a competitive benefits package.
