Description

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Temporary Public Relations Assistant in our Houston office. The position supports the PR and media‑related initiatives and activities of the firm.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Perform administrative work of a complex nature with a high degree of proficiency. Provide administrative support to the Director of Public Relations & Legal Experience Management, including assistance with the PR budget, coordination of interviews, and writing assignments.
  • Assist in collecting, drafting and obtaining approvals for the weekly lineup of news items for the firm’s intranet and Houston office newsletter.
  • Monitor daily news coverage and identify firm‑related items in the media database, categorize and capture them, upload independently discovered content into the database, and assist in preparing projects and news‑clip reports generated from it.
  • Create links or PDF articles of bylined placements for the firm website and work with the Office of General Counsel on approval of author agreements.
  • Coordinate interviews and other media requests, serving as liaison to external PR agencies and vendors, and assist in managing media inquiries.
  • Work with Digital Communications and Marketing Communications teams to update media placements on the firm’s website and attorney biographies.
  • Assist with writing assignments (drafting and editing) for web releases, press releases, and other posts, working with the PR team to finalize text and obtain attorney, Ethics, and Conflicts approval.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in a professional services office or other legal support preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Other Qualifications: Exceptional written and verbal communication, listening skills, accurate typing, word‑processing, strict attention to detail, spelling, punctuation, grammar, strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, ability to prioritize workload, adapt to changing conditions, visual acuity for transcription, extensive reading, moderate or advanced keyboard usage, ability to sit or stand for extended periods, ability to lift and move supplies up to 5–10 pounds, flexibility regarding work assignments, willingness to work overtime on short notice, teamwork, and ability to perform all responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
