The Information is hiring a reporter to own the business story of the coming decade: how companies are using artificial intelligence.

What You’ll Cover

• Companies such as Palantir, Google Cloud, and Amazon Web Services, as well as emerging players like Databricks, and how the cloud and enterprise software industries are evolving.
• AI application and agent developers and the infrastructure powering them.
• The economics of AI, what vendors are charging, what customers are paying, and whether anyone is making money.
• How AI developers are trying to replicate older apps like Slack and Salesforce and how the owners of those apps are fighting back.
• Existential threats to software and IT services incumbents such as Adobe, Salesforce, and Accenture.
• The gap between hype and reality, including the challenge of installing company‑wide agents and other automations.

Qualifications

• A proven track record of breaking news and cultivating high‑level sources.
• Deep curiosity about AI, startups, and power dynamics in tech.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to tell complex stories clearly.
• The ability to multitask between short‑ and long‑term stories.
• Ideally based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City with a hybrid model requiring office presence three days a week.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $160,000 USD annually + bonus + benefits.
