Description
As a Video Codec Algorithm Engineer within our small and dynamic group, you will be at the forefront of innovation, tackling complex technical challenges and playing a key role in shaping the future of video experiences across Apple products. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a deep passion for video coding and processing technologies, coupled with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
As a Video Codec Algorithm Engineer, you will contribute to the development and optimization of video coding and processing technologies, addressing complex technical challenges and helping shape the future of video experiences across Apple products.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Expertise in video and image coding principles, algorithms, and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of video compression standards such as H.264, HEVC.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Excellent software design, problem-solving, and debugging abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both objective and subjective visual quality assessment methods.
- Understanding of hardware-based techniques with the ability to develop ideas that are hardware-friendly.
- Familiarity with video processing algorithms (e.g., scaling, noise reduction, tone mapping) is a plus.
- Proficiency in digital signal processing and information theory is a plus.
- Knowledge of the latest computer vision and deep learning technologies, and their application to video processing, is a significant advantage.
- Excellent collaboration skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
