The Media Relations Specialist (Associate Director of Media Relations) is responsible for producing and providing information to media outlets, collecting statistical data, records, and history on university student-athletes, and ensuring effective presence on the departmental web page. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Create posts for social media outlets through written and multimedia content (videos, photography, and graphic designs). Develop (shooting and editing) video content for social media and TribeAthletics.com; including previews, final scores, in-game updates, awards, individual player highlights, hirings, event promotions, schedules, etc. Frequently update TribeAthletics.com for the current seasons, upcoming events, and historical data. Arrange press box services, run and maintain computer stats programs, and distribute all game‑related materials for news personnel. Job Duties:

50% - Sports Liaison/Content Creation:

Plan and execute a communications strategy for assigned sports including but not limited to conceiving, writing, editing, and distributing press releases and student‑athlete profiles. Create, shoot, edit, and distribute video features; and direct stewardship over current and historical statistical data. Frequently update TribeAthletics.com for the current seasons, upcoming events, and historical data. Update website content including but not limited to previews (game and season), recaps, reviews, features, award releases, major events, and general sports releases. 20% - Social Media:

Create unique contributions across all the departmental social networking platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) as they relate to assigned areas (both live updates and notices of new or unique content, either on Tribe Athletics or in local or national media). Generate awareness of programs and Tribe Athletics and foster and grow a community through interaction and content. Ensure strategies fit within the existing departmental framework and that the implementation of all writing, content development, videos, etc. is executed without needing additional approvals. 20% - Creative Content:

Create unique images using Adobe Creative Suite for departmental website and social media with the goal of providing Tribe Athletics and its programs with compelling imagery that will help users more meaningfully interact with new content. Develop (shooting and editing) video content for social media and use on TribeAthletics.com. This includes, but is not limited to preview, final score, in‑game updates, awards, individual player highlights, hirings, event promotion, schedule, etc. Create game day pages with important content regarding assigned sports events both at home and away. Help in the design and implementation of any special event sites, created for the support of such things as conference championships, NCAA Championships, or the like. Assist coaching staff, when necessary, in recruiting through social media and graphics. 10% - Event Support:

When appropriate, arrange press box services, including running and maintaining computer stats programs, and distributing all game‑related materials for all news personnel. Distribute press passes and travel when assigned. When necessary, provide primary or secondary event assistance for non‑assigned sports when conflicts arise in schedules, such as helping with statistics, writing, social media, etc. Posting Range: $40,000-$50,000 commensurate with experience and internal alignment. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Experience with desktop publishing, photo editing, and video‑editing software. Experience developing or writing press releases or comparable experience. Experience with social media and working with print publications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field. Experience using NCAA Live Stat software, Adobe Creative Suite, and associated programs. Experience working in a Division I Athletics Department. Experience in a collegiate athletics department or comparable experience. EEO is the Law.
