The Role
The Director of Design plays a pivotal role in bringing Hyatt’s lifestyle brand vision to life through the successful execution of new builds, conversions, and renovations across the region.
Reporting to the Vice President, this role is responsible for leading design execution on assigned projects from early feasibility through hotel opening, ensuring they reflect the brand’s creative ethos while meeting operational, commercial, and guest experience goals.
With a strong foundation in architecture and interior design, the Director combines technical precision, creative insight, and project leadership to deliver spaces that push boundaries and uphold Hyatt Lifestyle brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Execution & Brand Alignment
Interpret global and regional creative direction into actionable project plans and design briefs.
Ensure all design decisions reflect the Hyatt Lifestyle identity, aesthetic vision, and experiential priorities.
Collaborate with consultants and internal teams to uphold design quality and creative intent.
Project Oversight & Delivery
Lead the end-to-end design and project development lifecycle for assigned properties in the region.
Review architectural, ID, and consultant deliverables to ensure alignment with Hyatt brand standards, operational functionality, and regulatory requirements.
Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with Technical Services, Development, and Operations and MEP teams.
Conduct regular site visits to review progress, resolve design challenges, and support construction process and teams.
Support hotel opening readiness from a design implementation perspective.
Stakeholder & Consultant Coordination
Act as the day‑to‑day design lead with owners, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Recommend qualified design consultants and creative partners that align with Hyatt’s vision.
Support contract reviews, VE processes, and milestone design presentations.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with Development, Operations, and other corporate teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
Collaborate with F&B and retail leads to integrate brand storytelling and functionality into public spaces.
Collaborate with OSE and MEP team to ensure alignment with Hyatt brand standards.
Contribute to presentations and documentation in support of business development and design positioning efforts.
Industry Engagement
Participate in design forums and industry events to maintain awareness of trends and reinforce Hyatt’s design leadership in the region.
Qualifications Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
12+ years of relevant experience in hospitality design and project management, with a focus on lifestyle or luxury segments.
Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder projects across different geographies.
Strong design sensibility with the ability to maintain quality through technical execution.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with hospitality development processes, brand standards, and FF&E/OS&E integration.
Willingness and ability to travel across the region regularly.
The salary range for this position is $142,000- $150,000
The final pay rate/salary offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level and other qualifications for the role, as well as the location of the performance of work. Pay for the successful candidate will meet local requirements, including the local minimum wage rate.
