Communication Specialist I - Dispatcher - 911 Operator
Join the City of Midwest City team as a Communication Specialist I in the Emergency Communications Department. The incumbent receives, analyzes, dispatches messages to radio‑equipped units of Police, Fire, and Ambulance departments, and monitors burglar and fire alarms.
Responsibilities
- Receive, analyze, and dispatch emergency communications to police, fire, and ambulance units.
- Monitor burglar and fire alarms and respond to events.
- Operate two‑way radios and computer terminals with OLETS certification.
- Conduct data entry with a minimum of 5500 keystrokes per hour.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating a two‑way radio and computer terminal.
- OLETS certification (preferred).
- Successful completion of a data‑entry test (minimum 5500 keystrokes/hr).
- Pass a comprehensive background check, polygraph, drug screen, and hearing test.
- Completion of pre‑employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug and alcohol screening.
Compensation
Starting salary: $23.58–$24.97 per hour.
