ED Communication Nurse - RN - part-time and Full-time opportunities at Highland Hospital of Rochester NY
Responsibilities
- The Emergency Medicine Communication Specialist (EMCS) serves as the first point of contact between the HH Emergency Department, prehospital providers and outside facilities for both adult and pediatric patients to determine needed resources, optimize throughput and maintain patient safety, and facilitate transfer of patients when necessary.
- Based on the information received, the EMCS distributes information and activates specific care teams including but not limited to Emergency Medicine and Stroke.
- The EMCS receives critical lab notifications and disperses the information to the appropriate clinicians.
- Provides professional nursing services for patients and families and/ or for the nursing department; collaborates with other health care providers and health care team members to achieve expected patient outcomes and improve the care environment.
- The Level II RN may assume expanded unit roles as available and assigned by the Nurse Manager as a charge nurse or preceptor. The Level II nurse supports peers in the delivery of patient care, uses appropriate team communication methods, and practices care that reflects the patient condition and priorities.
- The Level II nurse identifies opportunities for self-growth and contributes to the development of other learners; contributes to a safe unit environment and operations.
Qualifications
- Education: BS in Nursing preferred; licensed as a registered nurse in NYS.
- Experience: Must have current applicable clinical experience; at least two years in acute care nursing; critical care experience is a plus.
- License/Certification: Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse; current CPR/BLS certification.
