Position
Music Therapist at ABB Product Group Solar
Pay Range
Base pay: $55,000.00/yr – $60,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Provides music therapy for patients, families and staff, as appropriate.
- Implements, plans and completes the music therapy assessment with the patient and family when referred in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Guides the patient in the use of creative therapeutic activities for the purpose of improving or maintaining mental and physical functions and quality of life.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of music therapy services with the patient.
- Documents all services provided to hospice patients and families in the clinical record.
- Instructs other care team members, including hospice aides, volunteers and family members, in the use of music to achieve individualized care plan goals.
- Provides in‑services to staff, hospitals, nursing homes and other related facilities as requested.
- Participates in special events as appropriate and under regular scheduled duties.
- Follows appropriate standards of practice as set forth by the American Music Therapy Association and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
- Educates and provides in‑services to hospice staff members and community members on the appropriate use of the music therapy program and encourages referrals from all clinical staff and volunteers.
- Uses music therapy to treat a variety of medical, psychological, emotional, spiritual and social needs of patients/families in an age‑appropriate manner while respecting patient/family cultures, religions and values.
- Participates in weekly interdisciplinary team care planning meetings and contributes the music therapist’s perspective of patients’ clinical needs while educating team members about the use of music therapy.
- Provides in‑services regarding the use of music therapy in hospice to staff and community members.
- Maintains a high level of urgency, customer consciousness and service excellence.
- Actively supports the hospice compliance program and reports as required.
- Fulfills all responsibilities related to the success of the organization’s strategic plan as requested and assigned.
Qualifications
- CBMT Board Certification and compliance with continuing music therapy education requirements.
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy preferred.
- High customer service orientation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Musical skills including soothing singing, guitar and piano proficiency and knowledge of other recreational instruments.
- Knowledge of music therapy research and use of best practices in clinical interventions.
- Ability to recognize patient/family strengths and weaknesses and assess and interpret age‑related data.
- Attendance is a condition of employment.

Working Conditions
- Standing, walking, lifting (without mechanical aids) up to 50 lbs., pushing or pulling, carrying objects, climbing stairs or ladders, crouching, crawling, stooping, reaching, handling, typing, picking, pinching, using arm and leg muscles frequently or for extended periods.
- Transfers patient: transfer from bed to chair, chair to bed, and chair to toilet.
Additional Information
Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or after normal work hours in the event of an emergency, crisis or disaster. The position will work in a smoke‑free location and must adhere to all smoking restrictions.
