Product Photographer Job Description

Position Summary: The Product Photographer will organize, create, process, and maintain product photographs for Lane Automotive. This role works cross-functionally across the organization to ensure the success of Content Data department initiatives and help deliver compelling content to promote our products and services.

Reports to: Content Data Manager. FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt. Supervisory Responsibilities: The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take photographs of merchandise using a DSLR camera, studio lighting, and other equipment.
  • Prepare image using Adobe Creative Cloud and/or other post‑production image software to predetermined standards.
  • Compose photographic layouts of automotive products through successful arrangement of merchandise, by manipulating and positioning product materials for optimal photography and in a way consistent with other parts in that category.
  • Organize images supplied by vendors for use in print and online by Lane Automotive and authorized customers.
  • Upload completed images to the designated online site(s).
  • Identify inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Collect and research data, using experience to ensure data is completed and will aid in effectively educating both the end user of the part’s traits and applications.
  • Create, process, and maintain the Lane Automotive Team Member photographs.
  • Observe data security procedures and report potentially insecure conditions or procedures.
  • Monitor own work to ensure quality, apply feedback to improve performance, and look for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Participate in select marketing events and/or shows as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external customers resulting in expected outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Post‑secondary education in e‑commerce, digital media, photography, or related field; or two years professional related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of the automotive aftermarket industry preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively (clear and concise) through writing, speaking, active listening, and presentation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other job‑related equipment and software.
  • Ability to approach conflicts with vendors, customers, and colleagues in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to develop and foster business relationships.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data; strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and detail‑oriented with exceptional critical thinking, multi‑tasking, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent time management, problem‑solving skills, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work both independently, within a team, and cross‑functionally with other departments/stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision/guidance and must be self‑directed.
  • Willing to participate in company‑designated training; must maintain confidentiality and practice safe work habits.

Physical Demands

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Limited travel may be required.
