The Role We're seeking a Design System Specialist to rebuild and lead Farther's design system from the ground up. This high‑impact role will drive scale, speed, and visual quality, connecting design, engineering, and brand through both strategy and execution. As the owner of our design system, you'll work at the intersection of design craft and technical implementation, ensuring our rapidly growing platform maintains consistency while enabling teams to move fast. You'll partner closely with product designers, engineers, and brand teams to create the foundation that powers exceptional user experiences across our wealth management platform. Your Impact Ensure consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across the platform as the design system owner Audit existing assets and build a scalable component library to enable faster, more cohesive product experiences Rebuild and maintain a modern, responsive, and accessible design system Create reusable components, design tokens, and detailed usage documentation Define governance processes for adoption, enhancements, and deprecations Collaborate across design, engineering, and brand to ensure alignment Raise the bar on visual design and usability across our platform Operate as the PM, designer, and engineering partner for the design system Align the system with our visual identity and product experience goals Implement scalable processes for growth, enhancement, and maintenance Translate brand and product needs into thoughtful, reusable UI patterns Own both craft and operations with a proactive, action‑oriented mindset The Ideal Match Systems thinker, Figma power user, and strong visual designer with engineering fluency Built or scaled design systems before, ideally in fast‑paced, high‑growth environments Know how to balance speed with thoughtful structure 5+ years in UI/UX or Product Design, with at least 3 years in design systems Proven experience building and scaling systems in startups or high‑growth teams Fluency in accessibility, responsive design, and front‑end fundamentals Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills A growth mindset and a passion for scalable, sustainable design infrastructure Bonus Points Experience in fintech or other regulated industries Familiarity with tools like Storybook Background in branding, motion design, or front‑end development Interest in AI tools, automation, or improving design ops Enthusiasm for leading system education and adoption within a design org Why Join Us Everything you need to build the perfect dev station from hardware to software Learn & grow through book clubs, seminars, and peer learning sessions Full health benefits + 401(k) matching & Roth IRA options Unlimited PTO An amazing collaborative atmosphere between product, design, and engineering to solve hard problems together Want to learn more about building the future of wealth tech at Farther?
