POLITICO has combined its audio and video operations into a single, high-impact global unit and is looking for an editorial leader to continue its growth. As Deputy Head of Audio & Video, you’ll help launch, oversee and grow a portfolio of shows across all POLITICO geographies—amplifying our newsroom’s reporting and reaching new audiences with optimized formats on the platforms they use. You’ll report to the VP of Audio/Video and work closely with editorial leadership to ensure every show meets POLITICO’s brand and journalistic standards. You’ll manage and develop producers across audio and video and help build a best-in-class team. Our team works across video and audio and publishes across platforms, including social media. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with these spaces, but may have more expertise in certain areas. What You’ll Do

Leadership & Strategy Refine and execute the company’s audio and video strategy in partnership with editorial leadership Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing team; set clear goals, roles, and timelines Provide editorial guidance and foster a collaborative, creative culture with high standards Set and run audience-growth strategies: distribution best practices, platform optimization, social media, and external partnerships Production & Growth Oversee end-to-end production of key shows; keep complex, multi-part workflows moving Develop platform-specific formats and efficient production systems across audio and video Partner across the newsroom to identify and pilot new podcast concepts; define a visual identity for podcast video Track and analyze performance metrics and translate them into actionable growth plans Stay ahead of industry trends; evaluate and integrate new tools and techniques where they add value Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, and Social to evolve portfolio-wide growth strategies Work with the Live Events team to extend POLITICO’s live journalism through audio/video What You’ll Need

Experience 7+ years in audio production, including 2+ years in a leadership role (or equivalent combination of experience) Experience launching and running successful audio or video shows Experience in journalism and deep knowledge of its norms and standards Strong grasp of the audio landscape and, ideally, working knowledge of digital video Leadership & Project Management Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and inspire multidisciplinary teams Expert organizer who can manage multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and hit deadlines Excellent communicator who collaborates effectively across stakeholders Relationships with distribution platforms and experience working with external partners to reach new audiences Creative & Editorial Sharp editorial judgment with a record of developing standout shows and compelling visual/audio storytelling Creative problem-solver who can navigate complex technical or production challenges under tight deadlines Fluency in podcasting, social, and video trends and how they translate to audience growth This role is based in our Arlington, Virginia, headquarters.
