Industrial Designer
to join our development team.
The ideal candidate will combine their expertise in
industrial design, human factors, and aesthetics
with a practical understanding of engineering and manufacturing constraints. This role will focus on the form, function, and user interaction of sUAS systems and subsystems, from initial concept sketches to final production-ready CAD models.
The job will begin as a
remote position
and then transition to a
hybrid structure , working at least part-time in a to-be-determined office in the Northern Denver (Westminster, Thornton, Broomfield, etc.) area.
Job Role(s)
Develop innovative design concepts for sUAS platforms, components, and payloads, focusing on aesthetics, manufacturability, and user experience.
Create detailed
3D CAD models
and engineering drawings for prototypes and production, ensuring adherence to specifications.
Conduct
design reviews
and present concepts, mockups, and prototypes to multidisciplinary teams.
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure designs meet functional requirements, including structural integrity, thermal management, and sensor integration.
Support the fabrication and assembly of prototypes and participate in design validation and testing.
Required Experience
B.S. Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
2 years of relevant professional experience in industrial or product design.
Expert-level proficiency with 3D CAD software
(e.g., SolidWorks) and 2D design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional aesthetic sensibility, design process, and production readiness of designs.
Experience with
various manufacturing processes
relevant to product development (e.g., 3D printing, injection molding, CNC machining).
Desired Experience
Experience or strong interest in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS/UAV), robotics, or aerospace.
Knowledge of human factors and ergonomics as they apply to field-deployable technology.
Experience in designing for demanding or rugged environments.
Understanding of basic engineering principles (structural load, thermal properties).
