Job Summary Dakota News Now is looking for someone with great news sense, energy, and a sparkling, dynamic personality to produce daily newscasts.
The ideal candidate is a leader with strong news judgment, storytelling skills, and a creative vision for a solid newscast.
Duties / Responsibilities
Works with news directors and the assignment desk to determine, plan, and staff daily newscasts.
Has excellent news judgment and journalism ethics.
Demonstrates strong writing, storytelling, and reporting skills.
Possesses strong producing skills: creates a newscast rundown, writes stories, builds graphics, and coordinates with control room and field crews.
Is skilled in social media and online news production.
Exhibits good organizational and time‑management skills.
Willing to work longer hours and different days as needed, primarily a dayside Monday‑Friday position.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in journalism or related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in on‑air television news producing is preferred; training will be provided to the right candidate.
Basic experience with newsroom computer systems (ENPS).
Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (digital) and broadcast writing (television).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to represent the station professionally and responsibly in the community and newsroom, and on social media.
Desire to win, ability to reflect on work, and willingness to apply feedback.
