Prior Authorization Specialist
CareMed Specialty Pharmacy is looking for a full‑time Prior Authorization Specialist in Buffalo, NY. This position focuses on ensuring patients receive the medications they need by obtaining and managing prior authorizations from insurance carriers.
Responsibilities
Receive prescriptions and identify medication that requires pre‑authorization.
Address and rectify rejected claims from insurance carriers.
Conduct third‑party authorization requests and follow up until approval.
Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with pharmacy regulations.
Collaborate with providers, insurers, and patients to expedite approvals.
Qualifications
Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and stay flexible.
Organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Knowledge of medical terminology, medication names, and pharmacy terminology.
Accurate data entry and basic math skills.
Licensed or registered pharmacy technician (or as required by state law).
Intermediate typing/key‑boarding skills.
