Responsibilities
Oversee all energy project design and constructability activities during development/preconstruction through final closeout. Ensure scopes of work and project performance expectations align with project goals. Develop overall project design approach, strategies, management and oversight. Partner with project development and construction teams to align project scopes of work for client, Southland expectations and construction cost estimates. Serve as lead engineer to deliver projects within budget and on schedule while managing the team including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing and electric disciplines. Refine construction scopes of work and design packages during development phases; manage internal/external design teams toward required project deliverables for construction documents from development through construction completion. Coordinate with Project Executives and Project Managers on cost estimates, contract and procurement strategies, construction planning and risk management. Provide input and management regarding sub-contractor design partners and vendor strategies, prequalification, scoping, pricing, and management during the preconstruction phase. Perform site investigations and attend in-person meetings with clients, design teams, subcontractors, vendors and other project participants as required. Conduct site visits for data collection and evaluation of existing conditions, layouts, structures, MEP systems, equipment, components, and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes. Direct activities to verify installed mechanical systems, equipment, components, and materials conform to project contract documents. Ensure conformance with standards, design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering. Professional Engineering license in good standing. Minimum of 10 years of design, estimating, contracting and management experience within a consulting or design-build firm. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead cross-functional teams and develop favorable customer relationships. Ability to problem solve and find solutions quickly. Understanding of design-build/design-assist scope development, cost estimating and contracting. Thorough understanding of MEP and building construction related to cost and scope, with knowledge of Hydronics, air-side, ventilation, and related systems; capable of performing engineering tasks as a Senior Engineer. Ability to guide design teams toward cost-effective solutions and maximize client value. Understanding of commercial terms within construction contracts. Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam-based design projects. Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident. Creative and critical thinker with effective teamwork skills. Experience with LEED and sustainable design with LEEP AP and CEM certifications desired. Experience in markets including California (Title 24, HCAI, DSA), Federal Civilian and DoD, Healthcare and Labs, Central Utility Plants, Mission Critical, Industrial and logistics facilities, Higher Education Campuses, and Corporate/Mixed Use. Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 10-20%). Benefits

Pay: Final pay is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California, this ranges from $164,632.00-$181,095.00 a year plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
