Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Senior Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to design, optimize, plan, deploy, and troubleshoot Land Mobile Radio (LMR), private LTE (pLTE), Microwave, and Narrowband networks for utility-sector clients. This role independently applies advanced RF concepts to complex challenges (e.g., interference) and provides technical leadership on medium-to-high complexity projects or serves as the RF SME guiding cross?functional teams. Occasional travel to client sites is required for inspections, testing, and meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end RF engineering lifecycle: site surveys, system modeling, design, deployment, testing, and optimization.
- Provide SME-level guidance on LMR and Microwave technologies, including link budgets, propagation modeling, interference analysis, and spectrum planning.
- Configure and test wireless systems; diagnose and resolve RF performance issues and root causes.
- Lead and contribute to proposals, scopes of work, cost/level?of?effort estimates, and implementation plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure technical quality, on?time delivery, and compliance with standards and best practices.
- Support client advisory and consulting engagements with clear technical documentation and professional presentations.
- Mentor engineering staff; promote quality assurance practices and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 11 years of wireless communications experience; utility?sector experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of RF design principles, engineering standards, and best practices across LMR, Microwave, and LTE.
- Demonstrated hands?on experience configuring and testing wireless systems; familiarity with multiple radio vendor platforms is preferred.
- Strong critical thinking, complex problem?solving, and consulting mindset with excellent oral and technical written communication.
- Proven ability to work independently, set priorities, and deliver high?quality results with minimal supervision.
- Experience developing technical proposals and customer?facing documentation; professional presentation skills.
Education
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited program (in the country of study or practice).
Travel & Work Setting
- Onsite in Overland Park, KS, 5 days per week.
- Occasional travel to client sites for inspections, testing, and meetings.
