Job Description

Expert Technical Artist with a focus in Graphics to join our studio in Boston to work on Cyberpunk 2, the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077. You’ll bring advanced skills, both artistic and technical, along with attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality, accessible visuals that meet our ambitious artistic and technical goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with graphics engineers, designers, artists, and other developers to align rendering approaches with creative and technical targets.
  • Conduct look-development and break down high-bar visual goals into actionable, real-time-ready procedures.
  • Prototype, test, and extend rendering systems within Unreal Engine 5.
  • Research emerging trends and advancements in rendering technology.
  • Maintain visual coherence across scalability targets through thoughtful workflows and system integration.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve rendering and performance-related challenges.
  • Collaborate on GPU budgets and content memory allocations, offering guidance to content developers.
  • Develop test gyms and unit tests to help artists deliver optimized, performant content.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure systemic alignment across disciplines.
  • Mentor and guide the art team on best practices and technical approaches for world-building and rendering.

Qualifications

  • Typically 7+ years of experience in real-time graphics, rendering, or technical artistry.
  • Strong understanding of GPU workflows (lighting, rendering, compute shaders), particularly in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Proven experience in developing shaders and materials that balance performance and visual quality.
  • Proficiency in HLSL, GSL, or other shader languages.
  • Experience developing tools or automation systems using C++ or Python.
  • Experience with node-based shading systems.
  • Familiarity with DirectX 12 or similar graphics APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience building scalable lighting, shading, and material pipelines.
  • Experience with profiling tools such as PIX, RenderDoc, Unreal Insights, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts across disciplines.
  • Initiative in driving shared goals, mentoring peers, and contributing independently and collaboratively.
  • Creative and strategic problem-solving abilities that foster innovation.

This position is a new role.

Estimated pay range for this position: 151 400 - 231 200 USD annually. This role may also be eligible for discretionary stock options.
