Position Overview
The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a dynamic and innovative Senior Editor to lead strategic communications, marketing, and fundraising initiatives that advance the department's mission and elevate its visibility. This position plays a key role in strengthening the department's brand, driving engagement across digital and print platforms, and supporting philanthropic growth. The Senior Editor will collaborate closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to develop compelling narratives that highlight the department's impact in education, research, clinical care, and community service.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications: Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans that promote departmental initiatives, accomplishments, and community partnerships.
- Marketing and Branding: Oversee marketing efforts across digital and print media, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment in all materials, campaigns, and platforms.
- Social Media Engagement: Lead the creation of targeted social media strategies that increase visibility, engagement, and support for the department's mission areas.
- Fundraising and Development Support: Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify funding opportunities, craft compelling donor communications, and support the creation of persuasive proposals and campaign materials.
- Event Management: Plan and coordinate fundraising and engagement events that align with departmental priorities and strengthen relationships with donors, alumni, and community partners.
- Content Development and Oversight: Write, edit, and review high-quality content for web, newsletters, reports, and promotional materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic impact.
- Analytics and Evaluation: Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess campaign performance and continuously refine strategies for greater reach and effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with university leaders, internal teams, alumni, donors, and community organizations to advance shared goals.

Shift
Shift Type: Primarily Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm (with evening and weekend flexibility to align with specific project timelines, specific duties or functions, and operational needs).
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or related field.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, or development roles—preferably in higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit sectors.
Additional Training: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a demonstrated ability to translate complex information into engaging content. Proven success in managing communication campaigns, digital engagement, and donor-focused initiatives. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Proficiency with digital communication platforms, content management systems, and social media analytics tools.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $71,400.00
