Overview
Assistant Professor, Journalism and Media Management role at University of Miami Health System. The Department of Journalism and Media Management seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor whose research and teaching advance public-facing science communication, journalism, and media studies. We welcome candidates who can bridge journalism, media, and scientific disciplines, and who are committed to interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research in science, health, or environmental journalism or media studies with potential for obtaining external funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in journalism, media studies, and science communication.
- Advise and mentor students. Consult with student climate journalism TV program.
- Develop interdisciplinary curricula and minors supporting science majors seeking communication expertise.
- Collaborate across university environmental, health and science units.
- Contribute to departmental, school, and university service.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication or related field.
- Demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publication.
- Experience in journalism, broadcast media, media studies, or science communication preferred.
- Ability to teach and mentor students across majors.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching and research.
