- Compensation: New Grads starting at $50,000/annual; Benefit Eligible; Experienced (3+ years) starting at $62,500/annual; Benefit Eligible
Job Summary
The Music Therapist provides high quality music therapy services to a wide range of clients in group and 1:1 settings. The Music Therapist also provides services in long-term care settings throughout the Twin Cities Metro area for MacPhail Center for Music’s ‘Music for Life’ program. In addition to providing direct services to clients, the Music Therapist also provides client assessments, session documentation, and other required administrative tasks. The Music Therapist works collaboratively with clients, care givers, and other providers to achieve individualized goals.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Therapeutic Services
- Provide high quality therapeutic services, music therapy interventions, assessments, treatment planning, and documentation and in both individual and group settings for clients
- Adapt music therapy resources, materials and music therapy interventions to the specific needs of the client or group participants, as needed
- Foster an inclusive, client-centered learning environment through the establishment of good rapport with clients, families, and partnerships
- Communicate and encourage open discussion with clients, families, and partnerships regarding client’s progress, future development planning, scheduling, and all other related administrative policies
- Administrative
- Complete all regulatory and required documentation of services provided
- Community & Culture Building
- Support outreach and communication efforts to help raise awareness, engage new participants, and connect the work of the department to the broader community
- Model curiosity, openness, and professionalism in all interactions with clients, families, and colleagues
Qualifications
- Education
- Board Certification in Music Therapy, required
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, required
- Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, preferred
- Neurologic Music Therapy Certification, preferred
- Experience
- Experience working with diverse populations, required
- Ability to teach beginner level piano, guitar, and voice, required
- 2-4 years of clinical experience in Music Therapy, preferred
- Experience providing services in group settings, preferred
- Experience developing curriculum, preferred
