Contract: 185‑day

Salary: Exempt, $51,000–$52,000 annually (plus additional compensation for experience)

Position Purpose & Description

Seeking a high‑school music teacher with expertise in non‑performance‑based and instrumental music courses. The ideal candidate will assist in band/orchestra classes, be proficient in woodwind, brass, or string instruments, and have a background in piano. Additionally, the candidate will lead courses such as Piano Lab 1 & 2, AP Music Theatre, Social History of Rock and Roll, and potentially other non‑performance‑based music classes.

Additional Duties

• Serve as lead teacher in non‑performance‑based music courses.
• Assist in teaching band and/or orchestra classes.
• Demonstrate proficiency in woodwind, brass, or string instruments.
• Utilize piano skills to support instruction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid and active Indiana Department of Education music teaching license.
• Successful attainment of degrees required for licensure in the state of Indiana.
• Demonstrated proficiency in woodwind, brass, or string instruments, and piano.
• Experience teaching non‑performance‑based and instrumental music courses.

Physical Requirements

Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time (often), carry up to 25 pounds (seldom), lift up to 25 pounds (seldom), push/pull up to 25 pounds (occasional), work at a desk or in meetings (very frequent), see and hear clearly (very frequent), operate office equipment (very frequent), reach in all directions (very frequent), and climb (seldom).
