Role Overview

The Senior UI Software Engineer will provide technical leadership on TP ICAP’s flagship Fusion platform, including the Fusion Platform UI team and setting standards across several UI groups. The Principal Engineer will drive software development, mentor teammates, and lead via technical expertise while maintaining hands‑on involvement and some management responsibility. The role requires comfortable work in agile teams, transparent communication, and a commitment to quality.

Role Responsibilities

Development, Architecture, SDLC and Delivery

  • Architect and develop high‑performance, scalable, and robust trading systems, tools, and platforms.
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and hands‑on coding expertise.
  • Act as the primary technical leader and developer on the Fusion UI team, demonstrating strong technical competencies and acting as a dependable and high‑value contributor.
  • Be an expert in modern UI engineering using React/TypeScript/JavaScript and OOP design principles.
  • Provide technical oversight of the analysis and design for assigned projects.
  • Design, develop, test, and oversee production software solutions, including highly complex systems and modifications to existing systems.
  • Communicate architecture and principles to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Support use of JIRA for planning, prioritisation, and delivery tracking.
  • Ensure the team follows a well‑defined SDLC that supports planning, prioritisation, and delivery.
  • Define scope and estimate work, leveraging prior experience.
  • Act as custodians for target‑state architecture and best practice within your team and across the Fusion estate.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve systems towards target‑state architecture and prioritise refactoring to positively influence deliveries.

Communication and Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership and direction for the development team.
  • Participate in retrospectives and drive best practices.
  • Lead the team to deliver high‑quality and innovative software solutions.
  • Coach, motivate, and develop team members, using code reviews and supportive mentoring.

Change, Risk and Issue Management

  • Guide and support the team to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Work with Team Leaders to estimate time, risk, and propose mitigation actions.
  • Share complex technical designs or issues with non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Identify tools and methodologies to improve development effectiveness.
  • Facilitate prioritisation of defects and enhancements.
  • Manage risks and issues with timely escalation to stakeholders.

Experience / Competences

Essential

  • Proven experience as a senior/principal engineer in high‑performance trading systems or similar domains.
  • Demonstrable experience in HTML5, React 16/17+, TypeScript 4/5+, JavaScript.
  • UI libraries such as Material‑UI or Ant Design.
  • CSS preprocessors such as Sass and LESS.
  • Testing frameworks (e.g., Jest).
  • Performance profiling and optimisation.
  • Build tools such as Webpack.
  • Code quality and governance tools such as SonarQube.
  • Responsive design and cross‑browser compatibility.
  • Version control systems such as Git (GitLab).
  • Agile development methodologies (Scrum).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desired

  • NX/Turbo repo or a similar monorepo approach, Node.js.
  • Figma for mock‑ups and collaboration.
  • Design thinking.
  • Use of Storybook.
  • Knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms.

Annual Salary

  • $130,000 - $140,000
