About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will design and develop modern, responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript, while also contributing to backend services built with Node.js, Java, and Python. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver high-quality, performant applications that provide seamless user experiences. Your work will be essential in advancing Ushur’s mission to transform enterprise communication through automation and intelligent digital experiences. This role will report to the VP of Engineering.
Employees located within approximately 25 miles of our HQ in Santa Clara, CA are required to work in the office at least three days per week. Specific hybrid expectations will be determined and communicated by your manager.
What You\'ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain rich, interactive and responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into scalable, high-quality features.
- Contribute to backend development using Node.js, Java, and Python for building APIs and microservices.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and optimize applications for maximum performance and scalability.
- Drive best practices in software design, coding standards, testing, and maintainability.
- Participate in architectural discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure high standards across the engineering organization.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
- Leverage AI and machine learning technologies to enhance user experiences and build intelligent product features.
- Collaborate with data science and AI teams to integrate AI-driven capabilities into the platform.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
- Stay current with emerging technologies—including advances in AI development frameworks and tools—to continuously improve development processes and product quality.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on front-end development
- Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, including component-based architecture, state management, and performance optimization
- Deep understanding of modern HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles, with hands-on experience using frameworks such as TailwindCSS, SASS, or Styled Components
- Solid experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, and Python
- Proven experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with cloud-based microservices
- Strong understanding of software design principles, testing methodologies, and version control (Git)
- Experience collaborating with product and design teams using UX tools such as Figma, and translating design prototypes into functional, accessible, and responsive interfaces
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively across teams
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with AI-driven development
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience in Agile/Scrum development environments
The pay range for this position is $140,000- $170,000 plus bonus and equity. However, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
