Role
We’re looking for a passionate, motivated, and technically skilled videographer, specializing in high-quality educational content and professional studio “direct-to-camera” filming, to join our growing creative team. This role is responsible for filming a wide range of educational and marketing content full-time. This will include structured online courses, studio productions, social media content, and long-form informational videos. This role is required to be in Houston full-time with the potential for occasional travel for specific projects. This role reports to the Media Director. Balancing the technical aspects of filming and the art of talent management is what you do best. In this context, “talent” refers to our in-house instructors, subject matter experts, and occasional guests. You will be responsible for directorial facilitation: guiding talent to deliver clear and engaging performances, maintaining high energy on set, proactively communicating technical needs, and providing constructive feedback. You understand the best practices of framing, multi-camera setups, professional lighting, and pristine audio capture essential for educational content. You’ve done this before at a high level and can show a portfolio of high-quality educational or corporate video content you’ve produced. This role is critical to our company, as you will be the primary custodian of our video brand quality. Responsibilities
Filming 3-5 days per week. Heavy focus on studio/direct-to-camera filming for educational courses. Designing and setting up studio shoots, including multi-point lighting, multi-camera setups, high-quality audio recording (lapel and boom), and set dressing/props. Capturing high-quality production stills and behind-the-scenes content for social media and marketing use. Collaborate with the instructional design and marketing teams during pre-production to plan shot lists and content themes. Ask clarifying and engaging questions during filming (when appropriate) to help talent elaborate on complex topics for the audience. Interacting with producers, instructional designers, and other team members. Participating in weekly creative and strategy sessions to review content performance and plan upcoming productions. Monitor audience comments and feedback on video content to inform and improve future filming techniques and content clarity. Manage all digital assets, promptly uploading and organizing all raw footage and project files to our shared drives (e.g., Google Drive, Frame.io). Updating assigned tasks and communicating updates with the team in Jira & Slack. Editing approximately 10-15 short-form videos per week for social media marketing. Track performance of your video content. Staying on top of trends in educational video, as well as social platforms (YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram). Results
Our social channels (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels) are consistently populated with high-quality short-form content. Production schedules are met reliably, with flexibility to accommodate project deadlines. The company’s social media accounts see a significant, measurable increase in audience engagement and reach. A consistent pipeline of high-quality, long-form educational content (courses, webinars, YouTube videos) is produced. Our instructors and talent report a positive, professional, and supportive filming experience, making them eager to create more content. New and engaging ways to present educational material are captured and brought to the team. Learnings from each shoot are documented and integrated to improve future film sessions on a continual basis. All footage is uploaded and organized according to company standards. Our studio and filming locations are consistently left clean, organized, and “better than you found it.” Requirements
4 years of relevant experience in video production. A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in studio lighting, audio capture, and professional camera work (educational or corporate content is a major plus). Deep understanding of short-form content — hooks, storytelling, pacing, and strategy. Proven success on YouTube as the videographer for a growing channel or corporate/educational media brand. Excellent talent management skills: ability to direct, coach, and support instructors and subject matter experts on camera to get the best performance. Strong understanding of educational content pacing, information hierarchy, and how to create engaging, clear, and high-retention video. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proven success with short-form content as an editor for growing accounts. Speed and clarity in communication (primarily in Slack and Jira). Highly effective communicator and conversationalist. Experience handling confidential or proprietary information (e.g., unreleased curriculum, company strategy). Willing to work in a fast-paced environment with an openness to change. Location
Houston, TX Traveling as necessary for specific projects or company events. OUR CORE VALUES
Our core values are the heart and soul of this company. The right person for this role will appreciate each of these values, personally subscribe to them, and understand why each is critical to our mission. The Learner’s Heart:
The beginning of wisdom is humility. Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but recognizing that every person you meet and every moment you face holds something you do not yet know. To live wisely is to remain a student. Honor:
To discern, celebrate, and reward the unique difference in another. Strategic relationships are the true economy of progress. When we honor people, our possibilities multiply. We build with individuals and partners of integrity, skill, and character whose excellence lifts the standard for all. Greater Heights:
The quality of rising again. The resilience to be productive again. The strength to compete again, even in the presence of seen or unseen results. Excellence:
Doing ordinary things with extraordinary consistency until they are done well. Staying Power:
The strength to remain when others retreat. Whether in darkness or light, we remain unmoved by applause or absence. It is the inward resolve to finish what was begun, because the work is sacred and the assignment is not yet finished.
