NewsNation is a national news cable network currently reaching 75 million television households across the United States. The network is owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group (NXST).
NewsNation is currently searching for a PART‑TIME Control Room Technician for our national newscasts, based in our Chicago Headquarters studios. Our ideal candidate would meet multiple qualifications of the responsibilities below:
Responsibilities
Operation of robotic cameras: correctly position and frame shots, including the x/y axis, camera shading and color correction for multiple cameras in multiple locations. Must be able to make smooth on‑air moves.
Audio technician (A1): proficiency in use of audio consoles and corresponding audio support systems to mix a clean show during live and pre‑recorded programming.
Steadicam/Jib operation: proficiency with choreography and balance required for smooth shots on studio camera (Steadi and/or Jib).
Editing: proficiency in Adobe Premiere; able to cut VO, SOTs, packages.
Feed room/transmission: proficiency in Bonded Cellular, Zoom, scheduled recordings. Responsible for all incoming transmission QC.
Candidate should be able to think critically and work ahead to resolve existing issues and work around problems that arise during live news broadcasts.
Be able to communicate effectively and concisely to the rest of the team and management.
All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be part of the schedule, with overtime as breaking news situations demand.
Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in professional live television broadcast operations running professional robotic video cameras and live show audio mixing.
Correct evaluation of picture color and tone. The ability to distinguish colors is critical.
Experience with Wheatstone a plus; CalRec audio board experience preferred.
Must work well in a collaborative team environment and be able to multitask.
Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Be detail‑oriented and able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
Technical directing experience is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
Must have the legal right to work in the US. We unfortunately will not be providing visa sponsorship.
This position is a part‑time as‑needed staff position which will require membership in IBEW (1220).
Salary Range: $49.41 per hour.
