Summary
New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is seeking an innovative and collaborative journalist to join our newsroom in Concord, NH, as Digital Editor/Reporter. The role reports to the News Director and includes oversight and shaping of NHPR’s digital journalism strategy, hands‑on digital reporting, planning, publishing, and collaboration with reporters, producers, hosts, and editors to create timely, ambitious, and engaging news content on NHPR.org. The ideal candidate has a background in digital, print or broadcast journalism, a commitment to innovation and audience growth, and a collaborative mindset. This is a full‑time, exempt, on‑site position with a salary range of $67,000–$84,000 based on experience. Essential Duties
Work with the News Director and senior editors to plan NHPR’s daily and long‑term news coverage and publishing strategy; edit and publish stories on NHPR.org. Collaborate with the audience team to oversee NHPR’s news site (NHPR.org). Help plan and oversee digital feature reporting in collaboration with reporters, producers, editors and audience team, including layout, headlines, SEO and multimedia assets/interactives. Produce original digital reporting as needed, particularly in breaking‑news situations. Develop new opportunities for data visualizations, interactives and other graphics to supplement NHPR audio/digital stories or as standalone reporting projects. Play a key role on the editorial team, including editing audio newscasts and feature stories when needed. Other Duties
Work with NHPR’s audience team to ensure our digital stories reach large and diverse audiences. Ensure that our journalism adheres to the highest ethical standards and practices. Act as a face of the newsroom to external audiences as needed. Participate in on‑air fundraising as needed. Other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience working in news media as a reporter, producer, editor or other journalism‑related role. Sound news judgment. Excellent writing, copy editing and organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines. Experience in a leadership role on a team or project. Demonstrated news judgment in recognizing the relative importance of a news story and in developing stories appropriately. Experience with digital storytelling and presentation, including visualizations and graphics. Passion and intuition for audio, a keen eye and ear for media trends and audience needs. B.A. or relevant experience. Other Qualifications That Might Be Useful
Experience with Excel and other data presentation tools, including coding. Comfort and skill using social media. Technologically versatile with a willingness to expand skills; multimedia skills, including experience in producing or editing film and audio, are desirable. Proficiency in a language other than English. Familiarity with audience development practices and experience working with audience development practitioners. Compensation & Benefits
This is a full‑time, exempt position with a salary range of $67,000 to $84,000 annually.
