Job Title: Law Librarian II (Cook County Law Library)
Location: 50 W. Washington, Chicago, IL.
Job Summary Provides legal reference assistance to lawyers, judges, self‑represented litigants, and the public. Assists Law Library Administration in enforcing library policies and procedures, provides research instruction and database training for library users and staff, prepares and maintains print and web‑based research guides, facilitates and promotes the use of special collections, develops content for the Library website, contributes to collection development for print and electronic resources, participates in outreach to internal and external audiences, produces marketing materials including newsletters and library displays, and occasionally assists in other library service areas or at the five branches.
Responsibilities
Provide reference assistance and legal research support to users.
Enforce library policies and procedures in collaboration with Law Library Administration.
Conduct research instruction and database training sessions.
Create and update print and web‑based research guides.
Facilitate use of special collections and support collection development.
Develop and maintain the Law Library website content.
Produce marketing materials such as newsletters and displays.
Support outreach activities for internal and external audiences.
Assist in other library service areas or at the five branches as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduated from a college or university with a Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Science accredited by the American Library Association.
Two (2) years of experience providing reference services in a library setting.
Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Additional Requirements This is a safety‑sensitive position; candidates must pass a required drug test as part of the pre‑employment background check process.
Position is on‑site at 50 W. Washington, Chicago, IL.
