Qualifications
10+ years of experience with CAD
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is required
Knowledge and experience working with computers is required.
Experience in the Fire Protection / Automatic Sprinkler industry is .
Knowledge working with the following software is ; Autodesk (Revit, AutoCAD, & Navisworks), Hydratec (HydraCAD, HydraCAD for Revit, Hydralist & Hydracalc) and/or HASS calculation program
Demonstration of relationship building, customer service and interpersonal skills is required.
Problem solving, leadership and listening skills is required.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is required.
Ability to learn quickly, is required.
Responsibilities
Develop drawings for the installation of automatic sprinkler systems, which are to be installed in commercial and residential buildings. These drawings will be produced in accordance with the building set of construction drawings, so the ability to read construction plans is a must.
Drawings must be submitted to and approved by both the OAC team (Owner, Architect, Engineer and General Contractor) and the Building Codes office. Drawings must be designed in accordance with applicable codes, so a thorough understanding of NFPA codes is necessary.
Drawings are produced using both AutoCAD and HydraCAD software in 2-D and 3-D applications.
Coordination between trades is necessary whether it be done in an old-school application or performed using BIM software in a 3-D model.
The A/S System piping must be sized based upon the available water supply. A hydraulic analysis is performed using either Hydratec or HASS software.
Fabrication lists are provided with Hydratec software. All A/S piping is prefabricated by a third-party fabrication shop and shipped to the jobsite for installation.
Work closely with the General Contractor to ensure the project is installed: In compliance with the construction drawings, on schedule, and within budget.
Drawings must be approved and fabrication lists be prepared on time in order to meet the construction schedule. Changes to the scope of the project must be identified, and change order requests must be submitted to the G.C. for incorporation into the project scope.
Work closely with our co-workers. Common material purchases will be coordinated through our shop manager. Pipe installation will be coordinated through both our field superintendent and our field crews. Change order requests will be coordinated with our sales staff.
Job site visits will be required to ensure that our installation is being installed in accordance with our approved sprinkler drawings. Job site visits will also be required to attend scheduled meetings with the General contractor.
Establish relationships with general contractors, vendors, codes officials and co-workers to establish a profitable project. We want the G.C. to look forward to working with us again. We want codes officials to know that we do our absolute very best to meet all applicable codes. We want our vendors and coworkers to enjoy working with us.
