Job Overview
The PR/Communications Media Intern supports all of PBS SoCal's PR and 'earned media' efforts. This is part of the organization's Marketing and Communications team and works primarily remotely.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is also required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The working conditions are primarily a general office or home setting. However, the position will require occasional meetings in our Burbank, CA and Costa Mesa, CA offices and off-site travel to other locations as necessary.

Job Overview
The PR/Communications Media Intern supports all of PBS SoCal's PR and 'earned media' efforts. This is part of the organization's Marketing and Communications team and works primarily remotely.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Help draft Semi-Annual Media Coverage Reports
- Learn Media monitoring: Cision, Google, Social Media, and assist in the managing of reporting
- Help maintain the master media contacts list
- Update press release template and style guide
- Learn about story pitching, and assist with some PR efforts to promote TV shows and specials
- Assist Communications Specialist with creating and share weekly programming highlights to Listings/Channel Guide Editors
- Help with press and talent check-in at events
- Learn how to schedule event listings in local media calendars
- Assist in maintaining current list of government contacts
- Update info on organization's press sites
- Assist with writing press releases
- At least 18 years of age
- Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Reliable transportation access for travel to in-person meetings and events
- Interest in News, Communications, Press relations and talent relations
- Knowledge of Cision, Google, Social Media preferred
- Collaborative, collegial and resourceful, willing to pitch in on a variety of projects
- Familiarity with or interest in television and Public Media
- Passionate about proactively learning and intellectually curious
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of services (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
