Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Creative Services works as part of the Creative Services Team to create engaging photo and video content for Massachusetts Athletics. Primary focus on football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and ice hockey to support attendance and revenue generation.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with creative, communications, and marketing teams to shoot and edit engaging photo and video content for selected sports teams.
Assist the Associate Athletics Director of Creative Services and Digital Strategy in ideation, creative direction, and production of social media and other digital content across multiple platforms.
Develop and implement social media content strategies, guidelines, and campaigns.
Lead creative vision, storyboarding, and production planning for multimedia features that showcase Massachusetts Athletics.
Coordinate visual storytelling for major initiatives, events, and campaigns.
Track platform analytics and recommend content engagement and growth strategies.
Oversee pre‑production, scheduling, equipment management, filming, post‑production, and archiving of athletic team video content.
Film gameday footage, practice sessions, student‑athlete features, and other projects; produce highlight videos.
Hire, train, mentor, and manage creative content team interns.
Research best practices to keep content strategy aligned with audience trends.
Other Functions
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Sports Management, or related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Photoshop).
Strong knowledge of photography and videography.
Portfolio demonstrating a variety of photo and video work.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Independent self‑manager of project flow.
Team player and collaborator across diverse groups.
Detail‑oriented, proactive, energetic, curious, creative, and problem‑solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of sports.
Proficiency in graphic design (Photoshop) and motion graphics.
Physical Demands
Typical office environment.
Extended periods of sitting, standing, and repetitive movements; may require lifting or carrying video equipment.
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
May require evenings and weekends.
Salary Information
Level 26 – PSU Hiring Ranges.
