Scripps Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is searching for a Specialty Producer. You'll craft compelling stories across multiple platforms while leading special projects that resonate with our community. This role offers the perfect opportunity for a seasoned journalist to showcase their creativity – from field producing and script writing to spearheading storm coverage and cultural programming that defines the region. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Write and edit scripts.
Fill in as Newscast Producer as needed.
Field produce.
Work closely with Multimedia Journalists (MMJs), and/or investigative reporters and content producers as stories are produced for multiple platforms.
May manage the tip line, emails, and respond to viewers and fill in on the Assignment Desk.
Shoot still and moving video.
Edit desktop video.
Work with editors to utilize graphics and other tools to visually enhance storytelling.
May lead special projects, conduct interviews, and enterprise original story ideas.
Plan Storm Chaser use and events, cultural month coverage, and other specialty programs.
Gather archive video as needed.
May create original story ideas or repurpose existing content to be showcased in a unique way.
Travel when assigned.
Run point on FCC reports and snow closings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
BS/BA in a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
Generally, 5+ years of experience in a related field.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics, and libel law.
Solid understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats and strong computer skills.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws impacting operations.
Knowledge and proficiency in posting content to television station websites.
Must be a team player and adapt to developing situations quickly.
Must be an excellent conversational writer with solid news judgment and a positive attitude.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexible work hours may be required, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company's required insurance limits.
