The Consumer Integrated Marketing team at Microsoft is seeking an inspiring, forward-thinking Creative Director with extensive experience working on high-profile brands, either agency-side or inhouse. The Creative Director will be responsible for ideating, leading and evolving Microsoft’s digital creative experiences with a focus on breakthrough storytelling, tied to a red thread into the strategic insight.

Responsibilities

  • Use insights and strategic thinking to find the creative approach that will help our marketing breakthrough in today’s complex social landscape.
  • Ideate, develop and execute creative with a focus on our Owned & Operated channels – both organic and paid.
  • Guide team members in the effective use of AI tools, proactively incorporating them into creative workflow to drive the development of cutting‑edge solutions and improve speed to market.
  • Inspire product storytelling efforts grounded in audience and cultural insights.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with agency and production partners to ensure we are optimized for best‑in‑class creative work.
  • Thrives in a team setting that promotes authenticity, collaboration, and inclusivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor’s Degree in the same areas AND 6+ years experience working in product or service design, copywriting, technical writing, brand design, or brand marketing OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience as a leader in the creative space, managing team(s), and operating as a Group or Executive Creative Director.
  • 5+ years leading concurrent, multi‑workstream 360° brand campaigns for large product portfolios, owning the creative ideation, platform, and campaign architecture.
  • 5+ years experience storytelling: an innate understanding of the importance of narrative, across everything from internal presentations to compelling consumer‑facing creative.
  • 3+ years experience with AI tools and the role they can play in the creative process.
  • A portfolio showcasing impactful creative marketing with an orientation towards organic content.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Arts, Humanities, Digital Communications, UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Communications, English, Journalism, or related field AND 8+ years experience working in product or service design OR Bachelor’s Degree in the same areas AND 11+ years experience working in product or service design OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience of storytelling/narrative structure, pacing, graphics, music, shot selection and all key aspects of audio‑visual content.
  • 8+ years experience developing unifying brand narratives and creative platforms, and translating those platforms into digital creative executions.
  • 3+ years experience with Microsoft’s consumer‑facing products and services.
  • 8+ years experience in a fast‑paced and demanding environment, possessing a high level of intellectual curiosity and demonstrating judgment in the face of ambiguity.

Compensation and Benefits

Content Design IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
