PBK
The Architectural Designer is responsible for producing high quality project design deliverables in construction documents. This individual will work on any/all phases of development including Pre‑Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. The role reports directly to the Director/Principal/Associate Principal and collaborates with the Design Leadership to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with PBK’s quality and client service standards.
Responsibilities
- Generate new concepts and create fresh ideas on projects to meet client requirements.
- Participate in or lead design charrettes with clients and PBK staff.
- Create design concepts and continue development through all design phases.
- Prepare concept, schematic, and design development drawings.
- Effectively present ideas and concepts to clients and PBK employees.
- Collaborate with Design Leadership to establish format, drawing assignments, deliverables, and schedules.
- Act as a conduit between conceptual design and architectural implementation.
- Stay knowledgeable of interior finishes and trends.
- Supervise and mentor teams of Architectural Designers.
- Hold team and individual members accountable for deliverables.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5‑10 years’ design experience in K‑12, Higher Education, or large‑scale commercial projects preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture required.
- LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
- Superior proficiency in Photoshop, SketchUp, InDesign, Lumion, and AutoCAD required; Revit is a plus.
- Hand sketching skills are an advantage.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple projects, and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with senior management, external client organizations, and vendors.
- Quality‑minded, self‑motivated, and collaborative in a design team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
